Amanda's School
Amanda's School opened in 2006 and has been run by Amanda for the past 6 years. The academia at present is in the heart of Baeza in a buzzing neighbourhood, a walk away from the historical centre. At present we have 120 students aged from 3 to adults who take official Trinity exams but we expect to have approximately 200 students for the next year. The academia has been very successful taking a new intake of students every year. At present it is at full capacity. As a result, Amanda's School will be expanding next year and relocating to a new building which is a fully equipped, modern language school devoted exclusively to teaching modern languages.
The new language school is in a residential street, a walk away from the town centre and has three large classrooms. Each teacher will have their own classroom fully equipped with a projector, internet access and screen and there is access to a large library of teaching materials. The teacher will have an activity box of materials and their own copy of the books and Cd's. They will also have access to all the teaching materials- Cd Roms, flashcards and photocopiable materials to go with each course book. Each student will have their own workbook and materials. The new academia is being prepared at present for the new year but plans include a games room and library for the younger learners and a breakfast room for adults studying in the mornings. The new teacher will be able to choose which groups that they are interested in teaching according to their ability with full supervision and help from Amanda herself, depending on the experience of the teacher employed.
We offer courses to children from three years old. The Infant groups follow a course called SPLASH which revolves around the stories of three animal friends called Dot, Dizzy, Frankie and Tex. The younger courses are supplemented by Genki English which involves animated songs used with the porojector to initiate every class.
The primary groups use Incredible English, Well Done and Secondary groups use High Score English. The courses are subject to change depending upon the characteristics of the groups or teacher preference.
Adult groups follow New pass Trinity in preparation for the Trinity exams held in June.
Children come for two hours per week and adults come once a week for an hour and a half.
Most students live locally and recently there has been more young learners and adults coming to the academia. Students start at 4.00p.m and the teaching day usually finishes around 8.30p.m. There are also morning classes with breakfast.
The school closes for Christmas (just over two weeks) and Easter (one week). We also close on all national, regional and local holidays. These are all paid holidays.
We are looking for someone to start on 16th September, 2013 until June. Initially it is a one year contract with the possibility of continuing the following year and running the summer school if interested too. At first, the job would be teaching two or three afternoons a week but can be extended due to pupil intake. There is an option of supplementing the hours as an au pair in return for free board and lodging opposite the language school. If the applicant isn't interested in living as an au pair then the job would just involve the teaching timetable outlined. Accommodation can be offered or help finding accommodation elsewhere. We would offer a minimum of 12 hours a week teaching with a possibility of more hours if interested. We offer a very competitive rate and you will find that this is proportionally higher than other schools. Teachers are paid in accordance with Spanish law requirements and the monthly wage includes full National Health cover and tax. For more information on the salary, please contact Amanda's School.
The position is open to all levels of experience and qualifications. We would prefer someone with a TEFL qualification and experience working with young children. A knowledge of French would be an advantage.
There is one vacancy for September 2013.
