Idiomaster is a professional and dynamic language school with an established reputation. It is a Trinity College London examination centre and Cambridge ESOL Examination Preparation Centre. It is affiliated to ACEIA – the private language schools association in Andalusia – whose purpose is to guarantee a quality private language education, with a commitment to professionalism and honesty. It is also affiliated to FECEI, the Spanish Federation of language schools.
We have two schools. The first opened in Lucena in 1989 and the second in Montilla in 1990; there are approximately 700 students between the two centres. Young learners and teens make up about two thirds of the total, the rest are adults from beginners up to proficiency. Class sizes are small, generally no more than ten students, to ensure the best possible learning environment. Many learners continue to study at our academy for a decade or more and we strive to help students achieve the very highest levels of language learning on a consistent basis.
Qualifications
Idiomaster want passionate, dedicated, and reliable teachers who are invested in their students’ success. We work primarily with younger learners and teenagers and we look for teachers who enjoy the challenges and rewards of working with these age groups.
We’re proud of our school’s commitment to professional development and seek out engaged, enthusiastic teachers who are equally keen to improve their skills.
In addition to this, we require that our teachers:
- be proficient English speakers (C2).
- be eligible to work in Spain.
- have a university degree and Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL qualification or equivalent. (We also consider applications from teachers with a teacher training qualification and some teaching experience.)
- preferably have a minimum of 1 years’ teaching experience.
- preferably have some experience of working with younger learners and/or a genuine interest in doing so.
- Although not strictly necessary, a working knowledge of Spanish, driving licence, and experience of Trinity or Cambridge exams is always a plus.
Conditions
The classrooms in both schools are fully equipped with a computer and interactive screen. Each teacher has their own classroom and we encourage them to make it their own.
All groups use coursebooks and some of our material is provided through online platforms. Teachers have a great deal of autonomy in how they prepare their lessons, and we encourage experimentation in class. Termly observations, which often take the form of peer, or self- observation, help teachers to reflect on their practice and share ideas with their colleagues.
Our teachers attend the annual ACEIA conference in Seville every November, and we offer a programme of in-house training throughout the academic year. Aside from this we give teachers the opportunity to attend regional sessions organised by both the Trinity and Cambridge Examination Centres. We fully support any teachers who are interested in giving training sessions or conference talks themselves.
Our schools have been a part of life in Lucena and Montilla for over three decades now. We look forward to welcoming you to our community.
Most of the classes take place between the hours of 4.00 and 10.15 in the evening, although there may be a few morning classes. The contract is exclusive, runs from mid-September to the end of June, and is up to 25 contact hours.
