The CALEDONIA School of English is looking for a qualified and motivated EFL teacher for YLS and teenagers. We are a prestigious, award-winning Cambridge Premium Preparation Centre on the SW Spanish coast, and we teach YL to C2 levels in a friendly, professional school. The Caledonia School of English, a Premium Cambridge English Centre and international, award-winning School was set up in 1993. We are situated on the beautiful Costa de la Luz and widely regarded as a centre of academic excellence in this area. We are members of ACEIA.

Our school-age students are aged 6-18 (more than 90% of our annual intake) and all our classes are face-to-face in groups that never exceed 12 students. Our school meets all regulatory requirements in terms of safety and hygiene. All our classrooms are light, particularly spacious, and are fitted with high-quality IWBs and excellent sound equipment. We take great care to use the best resources available both in printed and digital form to enable our students to reach their goals. Our library is also well stocked with a huge variety of back-up materials.

Qualifications

For this job, it is vital to be empathetic, self-motivated and to have adequate organisational and class-management skills. Additionally, our teachers should be well appointed and prepared to meet the reasonable expectations of our clients.

Applicants should be university graduates with an appropriate TEFL or teaching qualification (e.g. Trinity CertTESOL) and be committed to working in a close-knit team. We are a long-standing, University of Cambridge Preparation and Examinations Centre, therefore, any previous experience of official examinations and performance assessment would be an advantage.

Conditions

We offer a comfortable 24-hour per week teaching timetable for full-time teachers with an earlier finish on Fridays. Students are mostly between 9 and 18 years of age.

In-house and external on-going training are provided and encouraged by the school.

Salary & Benefits

Guaranteed Basic Salary: 1,500 Euros per month
Take-home pay: 1,370 – 1,375 (after tax, S.S. and other deductions)

Social Security, National Health and Unemployment benefits are fully covered by the school (approximately 500 euros extra per month) plus an accident insurance and free annual medical check. Holiday payment made on contract completion.

You will pay Income Tax over 2 different fiscal years as the Spanish tax year runs from 1st January to 31st December. Income Tax will be set at around 2% for the period September to December and from January to June inclusive. NHS & SS contributions are currently set at 6.35%. The school fully covers all your other costs.
