The Academia Oxford needs an enthusiastic and motivated teacher to replace one of our teachers who is returning to the UK at the end of the month due to a sudden family illness. Our school is a busy language school (established 1986) in Carmona, a scenic and charming old town 30 kilometres from Seville. The successful candidates will need to work mainly with teenagers, with one adult class per week.

Qualifications

Ours is a small busy school so we need professional, enthusiastic and well-prepared teachers with a University degree and CELTA/TRINITY Cert TESOL or equivalent. One year experience minimum, and we are particularly interested in candidates who have experience of working with Young Learners. A working knowledge of Spanish is a plus. Please send photo and CV. We will take up references and hold interviews here in Carmona or via Skype as soon as possible.

Candidates must be European Union passport-holders and have a near-Native level of English.

Conditions

The Academia Oxford is located in Carmona, an old, historically interesting and attractive town (population 29,000) about 30 kilometres from Seville. We opened in 1986 and, although a small school, we consider ourselves to be a professional, well-run establishment, offering English classes to children from 3 years old up to the C2 (Proficiency English) level.

We mainly teach children and teenagers in two modern custom-built premises in the historic part of the town. Our spacious and airy classrooms all have interactive whiteboards, computers and A/C. We prepare the younger students for Trinity College London oral exams and the older ones for the Cambridge ESOL exams, especially Young Learners, PET and First Certificate. We are an official centre for the Trinity College, London examinations and are part of the PET Organizing Committee in Seville. As the vast majority of our students are under 18, the successful candidate will need to show ample experience of working with Young Learners.

A typical timetable would be from 4 o’clock to 8.00 three days a week and from 4 o’clock to 8 and then 8.15 to 9.15 on two days.

As members of ACEIA, (La Asociación de Centros de Enseñanza de Idiomas de Andalucía – aceia.es), an association of private language schools in Andalusia, FECEI, (La Federación Española de Centros de Enseñanza de Idiomas), and ACADE (Asociación de Centros Autónomos de Enseñanza Privada), the main national federation of language schools, the welfare of both our teachers and students is a priority for us. We take an active part in the training courses offered by ACEIA, FECEI and other organizations. We also belong to CALAC, an organization representing schools in the most historically relevant towns in the region. The successful candidate will be given a lot of support in general class planning and classroom management, as we feel teacher development, via internal workshops given by TEFL experts and also by attending external courses and training days, is of crucial importance both for the individual teacher and for the school.

Salary & Benefits

We offer a competitive full-time 34-hour contract – 1,315 Euros gross a month for 22 contact hours per week, the rest of the contracted time given over to planning, marking and meetings – and offer full national health and social security cover. Each teacher is also covered by a private 24 hours a day health insurance scheme which covers work-related accidents and civil responsibility. The contract will run from December until the end of June 2018. There are various paid holidays at Christmas, Easter (one week) and we also close for two days during the local spring fair in May. We also help in finding accommodation in the town  – all our teachers live in their own flats so there is no need to share a flat unless applicants want to – and we also offer free Spanish classes.
