The Academia Oxford is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and motivated teacher for the upcoming academic year. Our school is a busy language school (established 1986) in Carmona, a scenic and charming old town 30 kilometers from Seville. The successful candidate will need to work mainly with Young Learners and teenagers, with one adult class per week.

The Academia Oxford is located in Carmona, an old, historically interesting and attractive town (population 29,000) about 30 kilometers from Seville. As you can see from our web page (oxfordcarmona.com), our Facebook profile, Carmona is a lovely old Spanish market town, with a theatre/cinema, a swimming pool, a few gyms, and so on. Seville and Cordoba are just a bus-trip away and the beaches are a couple of hours or less. We opened in 1986 and, although a smallish school with 6 teachers, we consider ourselves to be a professional, well-run establishment, offering English classes to children from 3 years old up to the C2/CPE (Proficiency English) level.

We mainly teach Young Learners and teenagers in two modern custom-built premises in the historic part of the town. Our spacious and airy classrooms all have interactive whiteboards, computers and A/C. We prepare the younger students for the Cambridge ESOL exams, especially the Young Learners (Starters, Movers and Flyers) exams and prepare the older ones for the PET (B1), First Certificate (B2), CAE (C1) and CPE (C2) exams. We have been a Cambridge Preparation Centre since soon after we opened the school and are also an official centre for the Trinity College, London examinations. As the vast majority of our students are under 18, the successful candidate will need to show ample experience of working with Young Learners.

As members of ACEIA, (La Asociación de Centros de Enseñanza de Idiomas de Andalucía – aceia.es), an association of private language schools in Andalusia, FECEA, (La Federación Española de Centros de Enseñanza de Idiomas), and ACADE (Asociación de Centros Autónomos de Enseñanza Privada), the main national federation of language schools, the welfare of both our teachers and students is a priority for us. We take an active part in the training courses offered by ACEIA, FECEA and other organizations. The successful candidate will be given a lot of support in general class planning and classroom management, as we feel teacher development is of crucial importance both for the individual teacher and for the school.

Qualifications

Ours is a small busy school so we need professional, enthusiastic and well-prepared teachers with a University degree and CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent. One year experience minimum, and we are particularly interested in candidates who have experience of working with Young Learners. A working knowledge of Spanish is a plus. We will take up references and hold interviews via Zoom as soon as possible.

Candidates must be European Union passport-holders or have a valid work visa, have a near-Native level of English, and hold a valid Child Protection Certificate.

Salary & Benefits

We offer a competitive full-time 34-hour contract – 1,381 Euros gross a month for 22 contact hours per week, the rest of the contracted time given over to planning, marking and meetings – and offer full national health and social security cover. The contract will run from Thursday 11th September, when we have a two-day induction programme – actual classes will start on Monday 15th September – until the end of June 2026. We also help in finding accommodation in the town – all our teachers live in their own flats so there is no need to share a flat unless applicants want to.
