Tick It English is a small, friendly language school situated in a mountainous region of the North West of Spain, near Galicia and Asturias. We have been teaching in the local area since 2000 and have grown with our reputation. We specialise in teaching young learners from 3 years old and run general English courses for teenagers and adults. We offer our teachers teacher training (both in house and at conferences) and provide a professional service for our students.

Tick It English is looking for a dynamic teacher to form part of a friendly enthusiastic team to teach very young learners and adults. Storytelling, songs, and games are a core element to all our kids’ classes and we adopt a communicative approach to all our classes. You will be required to work Monday to Friday, starting at 12pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and starting at 4pm on the other days of the week.

We are looking for an EFL teacher to work in a well-established language school with more than 600 students where our emphasis is on a communicative approach to language learning. We need a teacher who loves teaching children, who is prepared to sing songs, play games and tell stories. For our young learner classes we don’t use coursebooks but use storytelling instead as the core element of our syllabus. We need a teacher who has experience teaching young children and can relate to them well.

We mainly teach children and teenagers up to university leaving age and we prepare students for the Cambridge exams (Starters, Movers, Flyers, KET PET, FCE, CAE, and CPE). We are an official Cambridge Exam Preparation Centre. Teen students don’t have coursebooks in the classroom as we use the digital presentation tool software for each course we follow, but students have the workbook in order to continue their studies at home.

TEFL qualification is a minimum with teaching experience. We are looking for a teacher with as much classroom experience as possible. Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL and/or YL certificate preferred.

We employ teachers from the EU and are happy to consider all nationals who wish to work in our amazing school.

The right personality for teaching Very Young Learners is the most important qualification as we are looking for someone who loves teaching children. We would like to work with an energetic teacher who loves singing and dancing with the kids, someone who loves doing art and craft activities and telling stories, using puppets, toys, magic and wonder to engage the children in English language activities. We use phonics stories, board games and other picture books in order to introduce language in class instead of EFL coursebooks.

Tick It English has been running successfully for nearly 20 years in Ponferrada and has been in our purpose built school since April 2017. There are nine brand new classrooms, all fully equipped with a desktop computer, projector, audio equipment, air conditioning/heating, and the school opens out onto a small park with a cafe opposite. It is an amazing school which also includes a huge teachers’ room full of resources and a staff kitchen for breaks.

Each teacher works from their own classroom and all our IT systems are cloud-based meaning that teachers can access material and prepare classes and work from home. We value good quality of life and our timetables are compact and all teaching takes place in the same building. There is no travelling involved to other sites.

We match teachers’ preferences and strengths as a teacher to the class type. All Very Young Learner and Young Learner groups are organised according to age and the Teen and Adult classes are organised by level. There are no mixed ability or ages in our classes. Very Young Learners have a maximum class size of 10 and Young Learners, Teens and Adults have a maximum class size of 12.
