San José de la Rinconada is a large commuter town just outside the city of Seville. It has a population of just under 30,000 and is approximately 12 km from the centre of Seville. The town can be traced back to Moorish times, but it grew up around the sugar factory – and the rail link this brought with it – in the 1930s. Although it belongs to the municipality of La Rinconada, San José is the largest town in this municipality. The town has good rail, road and bus links with the centre of Seville and is about 20 minutes away, however you choose to travel. The population of the town consists mainly of young families and San José has  a large number of schools for a town of its size. Further information can be found atwww.larinconada.es.
