Academia AHOY is a young, creative and constantly evolving language school founded in 2013, based in Córdoba (Andalusia, Spain).

Our team consists of teachers of different nationalities with academic background, experience and passion for learning and teaching languages.

We provide English courses for children (from 4 years of age), teenagers and adults, from A1 up to C1 level in both extensive and intensive forms. As an official Cambridge English Preparation Center, we also focus on exam preparation as well as support and conversational classes.

Our main goal is to create a friendly environment and encourage students to communicate in a foreign language naturally according to their age and necessities.

Role Purpose

To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English as well as students‘ personal development and well-being.

Main opportunities and challenges for this role:

  • Ensuring teaching meets learner needs and expectations
  • Building rapport with students of different ages

Main Duties:

 

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different student groups taking into account individual learning styles
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team
  • Complete teaching related administrative tasks (evaluations, mock exams)
  • Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning

Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree (BA or equivalent/higher).
  • Cambridge CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent recognized entry-level qualification to teach English as a Foreign/Second Language

Preferred but not required:

  • Minimum of two years’ teaching experience (preferably with students ranging from preschoolers to teenagers)
  • Experience in Cambridge exam preparation.

Further Information

  • Salary: Based on a collective agreement “Convenio Colectivo de Enseñanza y Formación no Reglada“ for “profesor titular
  • Full social security coverage with health insurance
  • Location: Córdoba, Andalusia, Spain
  • Schedule – Monday to Thursday 4 pm-9 pm (and one/two mornings if it is necessary)
  • Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract for 9 months (from second week of September to 31st of May/beginning of June) with option of renewal – contract may be from 22 to 25 contract hours/week.
  • Leaves: You will have local public holidays and annual leave as determined by the collective agreement. Two paid weeks at Christmas and a paid week at Easter.
