The Caledonian Language Centre is a professional language school dedicated to quality teaching and prefessional development, located in the university city of Toledo, 70 km south of Madrid. Opened in 1990, we now have 3 centres up and running.

There is a wide variety of ages and levels, from 4 years olds up to adults, complete beginners to proficiency. Groups are organised according to age and language competence. 75% of our students are children and teens. We have an increasing demand for B1 and B2 amongst our adult students.

We prepare our students for the Cambridge University exams and we are an Official Cambridge Preparation Centre.

The Staff

There are 12 teachers, 2 directors and a secretary. The directors of the school also teach in school.

There is a relaxed but professional atmosphere in the school. Everybody is friendly especially with new teachers as they have been there before.

The senior members of staff are very approachable and helpful. They are ready to give you great advice on how to deal with specific class dynamics and class management. Although teachers come and go there are at least 7 members of staff who have been teaching here for years and point you in the right direcion.
We run an on-going teacher support and observation programme and fund “teacher training workshops”, which normally take place in Madrid.

The Timetable

We normally work in the afternoon form 4 pm to 9,15 pm, with a 15 minute coffee break at 7 pm. Friday we finish earlier at 8 pm. If you have a morning class you have the Friday afternoon free and can enjoy a long weekend. This means you have plenty of time to do what you want in the mornings if you are organised. An average timetable is 24 contact hours plus class preparation, administration, teacher’s meetings and teacher training.

The Facilities

Regarding games, DVDS,magazines, CD Roms and books, you are spoiled for choice with the resource library apart from all the materials available there’s always time to have a cup of tea or coffee and a chat.

All clases have central heating and air conditioning and are equipped with whiteboards, some have IWB which can really liven up your lessons.
