Founded in 1992 by its current owner, Direct English is a medium-sized academy with 7 classrooms which sees itself as a serious language school with a big heart. Our students are very faithful and keep coming back year after year and we´re even beginning to receive the children of our first students.
Children start as early 4 years old and by the time they are 12 most are already able to converse in English. We also have classes for adults many of whom we prepare to take Cambridge exams.
Torrelavega
A town of some 60.000 inhabitants, Torrelavega is at the heart of the region of Cantabria, just 10 km from the coast and beautiful beaches, some renowned for their surfing. The Picos De Europa mountain range is just one hour away as is the ski resort of Alto Campo. Santander airport with direct flights to London and many other national and European destinations is just 30 km away. Cantabria was second on Lonely Planet´s must visit destinations for 2018-2019.
Our teachers
We have excellent qualified staff with an average of over 10 years´ experience who are always more than willing to give advice and support to teachers who are new to us. Regular staff meetings where methodology is discussed take place in the mornings. Our newer teachers find they progress quickly and enjoy being able to explore their own techniques in the classroom within a not excessively strict methodological framework.
Job Information
Contract dates 26.09.2016 to 25.06.2017. Holidays taken according to Cantabrian school calendar. ( One week at beginning of November, 15 days at Christmas, 6 days for Carnival, 10 days at Easter, plus fiestas.
Gross salary 1400-1570€ depending on relevant experience.

Requirements
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have at least one year´s experience including preparing students for Cambridge exams (young learners and main suite). He or she will be a native speaker and will be Celta qualified and will be able to get by in Spanish. He or she will be a university graduate and aged over 23.
We expect our new teachers to be friendly to staff and students alike, to thoroughly prepare their lessons and to take a keen interest in their work. This leads to really enjoyable classes as we specialise in motivated students.
