Amanda’s School opened in 2006 and has been run by Amanda for the past 12 years. The academia at present is in the heart of Baeza in a buzzing neighbourhood, a walk away from the historical centre.  At present we have 200 students aged from 3 to adults who take oficial Cambridge exams but we expect to have more than  200 students for this year. The academia has been very successful taking a new intake of students every year. This summer we have relocated to a new building which is a fully equipped, modern language school devoted exclusively to teaching modern languages.

The new language school is in a residential street, a walk away from the town centre and has four large classrooms, large patio and kitchens for teaching cooking through English.  Each teacher will have their own classroom fully equipped with a projector, internet access and screen and there is access to a large library of teaching materials. The teacher will have an activity box of materials and their own copy of the books and Cd’s. They will also have access to all the teaching materials- Cd Roms, flashcards and photocopiable materials to go with each course book. Each student will have their own workbook and materials.  The new teacher will be able to choose which groups that they are interested in teaching according to their ability with full supervision and help from Amanda herself, depending on the experience of the teacher employed.

We offer courses to children from three years old. The Infant groups follow a course called WOW english which revolves around the stories of Steve and his friend who is a magpie called Maggie. The younger courses are supplemented by Genki English which involves animated songs used with the projector to initiate every class.

This year, Primary classes are preparing the Cambridge exams for children- Starters, Movers and Flyers and books are being chosen at the moment to best prepare the exam.

Adult groups are preparing for the Cambridge exams.

Children come for two hours per week and adults come once a week for an hour and a half. We also offer workshops to our students which they can sign up for at the beginning of each month- dance, theatre, arts and crafts etc. We also have a cinema club which has become very popular.

Most students live locally and recently there has been more young learners and adults coming to the academia. Students start at 4.00p.m and the teaching day usually finishes around 9p.m.

The school closes for Christmas (just over two weeks) and Easter (one week). We also close on all national, regional and local holidays. These are all paid holidays.
